Applications for Czech language courses through the Czech Employment Center in 2026

On March 23, 2026, the Czech Labor Office began accepting applications for accredited Czech language courses.
Employment centers have returned to their standard operating procedures following the end of the provisional budget.
However, this has also led to an update of the rules for submitting and approving applications for retraining courses, including Czech language courses for foreigners.

In this article, we explain who can apply, what conditions apply in 2026, and how to do so as conveniently as possible.

Key requirements for obtaining approval

In 2026, the following key criteria apply for the approval of Czech language courses:

One retraining course per person
Each applicant may receive approval for only one course.
If you have already completed a retraining course in the past, unfortunately, you cannot receive approval for another course.

Support for Levels A2 and B1
Funding applies to intermediate-level courses that facilitate integration into the labor market.
If you have not previously studied Czech and would like to start at Level A1, we recommend completing this level at your own expense; after that, you can apply for funding for the next level.

Two categories of applicants may apply:

- registered unemployed (uchazeči o zaměstnání),

- individuals interested in finding work (zájemci o zaměstnání).

Priority employment sectors:

Priority is given to candidates who plan to work in sectors with a long-term labor shortage, such as:
- healthcare
- social services
- education
- construction
- technical professions

How to apply for a course

There are two ways to apply for an accredited Czech language course:

1. Paper application (offline)
You can fill out a paper application and submit it in person at a branch of the Czech Labor Office.

2. Online via the Employment Center’s website (recommended method)
You can submit your application remotely via the EmploymentCenter’s official website—this is the most convenient and modern option.
